Playground installation with the smallest possible CO2-footprint
Using RSI SPORTS Turf Panels has allowed a school in Antwerp to minimise the CO2 footprint of the installation of a playground.
To facilitate the many learners and intense use projected for the playground, the school decided to go for an artificial grass surface. Instead of selecting a traditional shockpad to make the playground HIC-compliant, the school decided to invest in RSI SPORTS Turf Panels.
These panels are produced in Belgium and are made of recycled plastic. International testing laboratories have established that the panels deliver a shock absorption and impact attenuation similar to what sports governing bodies like FIFA and World Rugby demand for artificial grass surfaces used in their highest leagues.
Using RSI SPORTS Turf Panels also meant that the installation of the playground didn’t require the groundworks playgrounds traditionally demand. The panels facilitate the lateral drainage of water hence there was no need to replace soil.
With the panels being delivered from the RSI SPORTS plant for Turf Panels in Belgium, and in the absence of heavy-duty equipment stirring up or replacing the soil, the CO2 footprint of the installation was kept to the absolute minimum.
