Rooftop MUGA area thanks to RSI Base Panels
A school in the heart of Forest Gate, East London, now has a safe MUGA field on top of its building thanks to the use of RSI Base Panels.
The school has limited outdoor space for recreational play for its students, so wanted to utilise a rooftop area that was being unused.
This way they wanted to create the much-needed space for physical education classes and clubs. Synthetic Turf Management (STM) Regional Sales Manager, Chris Stanley, explains why using the base panel and non-infill turf was required; ‘The school only had a short window of opportunity over the summer holidays to do the install, due to many other separate renovation projects going on.
"Using the base panel and non-infill turf was the preferred system due to its ease of install, drainage capability and lightweight nature. By using this system, there was no requirement for any aggregate for either the base or the infill of the turf, which was important when planning to get the system in quickly and efficiently."
All panel and turf materials were hoisted up to the rooftop in one afternoon along with all of the fencing panels and posts. The base panel and non-infill turf was installed in 4 days.
